Superfeet Insoles

One of our favorite places to start before jumping straight to custom orthotics.

Most shoes come with a removable liner that provides very little structure. Replacing it with the right insole can change the way the shoe fits, feels and supports the foot.

Superfeet has been one of our go-to over-the-counter options because there are models for different shoes, activities, arch profiles and cushioning preferences.

Our Quick Take

If you want more structure than the factory liner in your shoe but don’t necessarily need a custom orthotic, Superfeet is an excellent place to start.

What You Really Need to Know

The biggest mistake isn’t buying Superfeet. It’s buying the wrong Superfeet.

Best For Better Support Inside Your Shoes

A practical option for people who want more structure and support than a typical factory shoe liner provides.

What Matters Most Match the Insole to the Shoe

Arch height matters, but footwear volume, activity, cushion and fit matter too.

Our Take Don’t Automatically Jump to Custom

A well-matched over-the-counter insole can be a very reasonable first step for many people.

First Things First

What Makes Superfeet Different?

Superfeet isn’t simply adding a thick layer of soft foam underneath your foot.

Many of its support models use a shaped heel cup and structured base designed to create a more supportive platform underneath the foot while still fitting inside ordinary footwear.

That’s one reason we tend to think about Superfeet differently from the inexpensive flat foam inserts hanging in a drugstore. The goal isn’t simply to make the shoe feel softer. It’s to improve the interface between your foot and the shoe.

The Important Part

There Isn’t One “Best” Superfeet Insole.

This is where people get confused.

Superfeet makes different models because a running shoe, work boot, casual shoe and tight-fitting athletic shoe don’t provide the same amount of space and aren’t used in the same way.

The right choice depends on three main things:

  • The footwear you’re putting it into
  • The amount and type of support you prefer
  • What you’ll be doing while wearing the shoe
Make It Easy

Which Superfeet Should You Buy?

Start with the shoe and the activity — then choose the support.

Our Classic Starting Point

Run Support

Compare by activity, shoe + support

If you don’t already know which model you need, this is the route we prefer rather than choosing based only on the old color names.

Look At: Shoe volume
Then: Activity
Then: Arch/support profile
Finally: Cushion preference

Why We Keep Recommending Them

Support Doesn’t Have to Mean Hard, Bulky or Custom.

There is a huge space between the flimsy liner that comes inside many shoes and a fully customized prescription orthotic.

Superfeet sits nicely in that middle ground. The right model can provide a shaped, more supportive platform while still remaining removable, relatively affordable and easy to move between compatible shoes.

That makes Superfeet especially useful as a first-line footwear upgrade when the existing shoe liner simply isn’t doing much.

The goal isn’t to make every foot rigid. It’s to give the foot a better platform inside the right shoe.
Before You Order

How We Choose the Right Superfeet

Don’t choose an insole based only on whether someone tells you that you have a “high arch” or “flat foot.” The shoe matters just as much.

Step One

Look at the Shoe

Does it have a removable liner? Is the shoe roomy, moderate or tight fitting? A thicker insole can dramatically change the fit of a low-volume shoe.

Step Two

Consider the Activity

Running, work, walking and everyday footwear place different demands on the foot and shoe.

Step Three

Choose the Feel

Some people prefer firm support while others want more cushioning or flexibility. More support isn’t automatically better.

What We Like

The Good

  • Large range for different activities and footwear
  • More structured than typical factory shoe liners
  • Many models can be trimmed to fit
  • Options for everyday use, running, work and sports
  • Multiple arch profiles and cushioning levels
  • Significantly less expensive than custom orthotics
Good to Know

Things to Consider

  • The wrong model can make an otherwise good shoe feel worse
  • Thicker models require enough room inside the shoe
  • A higher arch isn’t automatically a better arch
  • Some people prefer softer cushioning to firm support
  • An over-the-counter insole isn’t a substitute for evaluation when significant symptoms persist
  • Not every foot needs an orthotic or supportive insole
A Clinician’s Perspective

Why I Recommend Superfeet

I’ve recommended Superfeet for years because custom orthotics aren’t automatically necessary for every person who would benefit from improving what’s underneath the foot.

Sometimes the problem is much simpler: a decent shoe is paired with a nearly useless factory liner. Replacing that liner with an appropriately selected over-the-counter insole can be a very practical place to start.

I also like that Superfeet offers different shapes and profiles rather than pretending one insert should work for every foot and every shoe.

My preference is always to use the simplest option that adequately solves the problem. Not everyone who needs better foot support needs a custom orthotic.

Questions We Hear

Superfeet FAQ

Are Superfeet worth the money?

For someone who wants more support than a typical factory shoe liner provides, we think Superfeet is one of the over-the-counter options worth considering. The key is choosing the correct model for the shoe and activity.

Which Superfeet should I buy?

Start with your footwear and activity. Look at how much room is available inside the shoe, whether the original liner is removable, what you’ll use the shoe for and whether you prefer firmer support or more cushioning.

What happened to Superfeet GREEN?

Superfeet’s classic GREEN model is now called All-Purpose Support High Arch. It is designed for high arches and roomy-to-moderate footwear with removable liners.

Are Superfeet custom orthotics?

No. Most Superfeet products are prefabricated over-the-counter insoles. They offer different shapes, support profiles and footwear-specific models but are not the same as a custom device made specifically from an individual assessment of your feet.

Do you remove the original shoe insole first?

Many Superfeet models are designed to replace the removable liner already inside the shoe. Follow the fitting instructions for the specific Superfeet model and footwear you choose.

Do Superfeet need to be trimmed?

Many models are trim-to-fit. The existing removable shoe liner can often be used as a template, but always follow Superfeet’s instructions for the specific product.

Should the arch feel very aggressive?

We don’t think “more arch” automatically means better. An insole should feel appropriately supportive without creating an obvious pressure point or forcing your foot into something that feels wrong.

Are Superfeet better than custom orthotics?

They’re different tools. Some people do very well with an appropriately selected over-the-counter insole. Others have needs that justify a more individualized assessment or custom device. We wouldn’t assume the more expensive option is automatically the better one.

What if Superfeet make my feet hurt?

Stop and reassess the fit. The model may be too thick, the support profile may not suit you, the shoe itself may be the issue or your symptoms may warrant a professional evaluation.

Why Trust This Guide?

Footwear Advice Should Start With the Foot — Not the Product.

Just Simply Well takes a practical approach to footwear, insoles and wellness products. The goal isn’t to convince everyone that they need an orthotic.

Instead, we look at what a product actually does, how it fits into real footwear, who may benefit from it, its limitations and when a more individualized evaluation makes more sense.

That’s why Superfeet remains a useful recommendation: not because one insole fixes every foot, but because the company offers enough options to match the insole more thoughtfully to the person, shoe and activity.

The Bottom Line

Are Superfeet Worth Trying?

If your current shoe liner offers very little support and you want a well-established over-the-counter option before moving toward custom orthotics, Superfeet is absolutely worth a closer look.
